What's going on in Japan? (No.13)

The rolling stock manufacturer Nippon Sharyo Ltd. plans to export new low price train designs to the United States, in response to a fall in export orders. "We have mostly finished the development of the basic portions of the new-type vehicles. We must now publicize the fact that the cars are in accordance with U.S. domestic laws," said Nippon Sharyo President Akira Nakagawa. In the domestic market, Nippon Sharyo, which is a subsidiary of the Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai), makes local trains as well as rolling stock for the Shinkansen network. It has exported to the United States and Taiwan.
