NIKKO, Tochigi Prefecture--Leaves of trees on the ridges surrounding Lake Chuzenjiko in the Okunikko region of Tochigi Prefecture have turned yellow and red. Cape Hacchodejima is filled with the reds of maples and other trees and the yellows of mizunara oak trees in contrast with the deep blue of the lake, which supplies the famous Kegon Waterfall. On Saturday, the winding Irohazaka mountain road played host to tour buses and private cars trying to get a glimpse of the cape.
