Without a serious commitment by broadcasters, 3-D television offers little hope of being the revolution in home entertainment that Japan's electronics makers are hoping for, industry experts say. Cautious comments by executives of terrestrial TV networks indicate that regular 3-D programming may still be years away. Still, the beginning of the 3-D TV era looks fairly rosy. Panasonic Corp. will release its first 3-D model this month, while Sony Corp. is eying a June start. Sharp Corp. plans to begin 3-D sales this summer.
